- Graduated from Nada High School (a private school in Kobe).
- Graduated from Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics, Kyoto University.
- Graduated and obtained Master’s and PhD degrees from Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University.
- 1999–2001: Full-time Lecturer at Faculty of Economics, Oita University.
- 2001–2008: Associate Professor at Oita University.
- 2003–2004: School Counsellor (part-time).
- 2004–2005: Visiting Researcher at Department of Psychoanalysis, University of Paris 8.
- 2008–2011: Associate Professor at School of Cultural and Creative Studies, Aoyama Gakuin University.
- 2011–Present: Professor at Aoyama Gakuin University.
- 2016–2017: Visiting Professor at Institute of Asian Research, University of British Columbia.
